"CLAY+"
August 6 - September 18, 2021
Juried by Wade MacDonald
Entries due February 15, 2021

Clay is an ancient artistic medium. For time immemorial, meanings and processes associated with ceramic objects have reflected the cultures which produced them. This vast history and subsequent tie to tradition simultaneously inspires and confounds many artists and critics in the field.

For decades, a subset of ceramicists have challenged long-established ceramic paradigms and formed the groundwork for current and burgeoning innovation. Now accepted widely, ceramicists? use of multiple materials in conjunction with clay is a means to enhance and support the content of the clay material within an artwork. "Clay+" seeks to highlight ceramic artists who nurture a kinship of materials in their practices to elevate and reflect the potency present in contemporary ceramics. This exhibition will be on display August 6 - September 18, 2021.
